The March 2000 Focus on the Family "Citizens" Magazine features an article entitled, "Grocery Chain Cloaks Cosmo," by Stuart Shepard. The article reports that due to comments and complaints from customers around the country, the Kroger grocery retailer began covering up the Cosmopolitan magazine in a blinder rack in February. On a case-by-case basis, they are considering covering other magazines. Smiths grocery store in Casper is part of the Kroger chain, and according to the store manager, Cosmo magazine is in a blinder rack.
Calls made to Albertson's found that grocery store chain is in the process of doing this in all their stores; Eastside Safeway said that a comment card could be filled out that would be forwarded to their headquarters, and the CY Safeway manager said he would talk to the person who brings in the magazines to see if something could be arranged; Target's manager gave their toll-free number to register concerns, and that call-line said they would request the store itself do something about it; Wal-Mart would check out what could be done, and has responded to these things before; and K-Mart has already pulled the Sports Illustrated magazines, and would check out Cosmopolitan as well.
If you would like to thank or encourage the stores that are showing an interest in covering inappropriate magazines, or if you have concerns about other magazines contact the stores.

Restoration Church's 1999 Annual Report is on the table in the back of the sanctuary. We praise the Lord for His provision over the last year. As a result of discussion during our Thursday evening business meeting, we will be increasing Pastor Dave's salary. If you have any questions concerning the report, please talk to Pastor Dave.
If you would like a receipt for your 1999 giving, please talk to Pastor Dave or Michele.
Ladies, we'll be meeting at Beth Limmer's home on Saturday, January 22, at 10:30 AM to celebrate Amanda's birth with a time of blessing and sharing in a Brunch fellowship. If you would like to carpool out to Beth's house, several of us will meet here at the building at 9:45 AM so we can do that. A love offering will be taken to help with the cost of the food. If you have any questions, call Michele or Beth. We're looking forward to having you join us.
